Sorry People - I thought I'd posted this a couple days ago!! Okay, so I`m sensing a theme among ProBlogger`s posts of late: social networking. Blogging is social; it is communication. Here`s my take on this. To some extent, I like to think that I`m writing into the void. My personal blog is my place to record the memorable, the funny, and photos, the petty, etc. It just exists. Oh my goodness, this is a biggie. If you're like me, you have a list about a mile long of all the things you'd like to do on your front page, let alone the comments, and about pages. Not to mention the contact and subscribe buttons. This blog, and my other two should probably be the shining examples of blog layout and function, as that is what I do, however. Oh, these are MY kind of assignments! :) So, Day 14 of 31 DBBB at Problogger: Go to the mall and observe marketing trends, the ways the display, creativity, color are used. Perhaps do some people watching too. Okay, so I tried this. I spent an hour at the mall, but my ADD wouldn't let me observe what was going on... there are way too many sparkly and shiny things to drag me in. After I read ProBlogger's Day 12 of 31 Days to Build a Better Blog, I immediately thought of creating an online editorial calendar - type tool that I could use. I like to be obsessive like that. If you are a pen & paper person like me, you can print this editorial Calendar from your browser and complete it, or you can copy to your own google docs or word processor to complete digitally. The gist of today's assignment is to create a schedule for the coming weeks, of which posts you'll publish, and on what days. So, any thoughts on day 9 through 11? #9 Forums: My take is that it is a good idea. And I don't have the time. I found it particularly helpful in today's (day 11)post that he shared his time management priorities, although vaguely. I too think that I'm going to have to put more time into the networking, learning, and assisting side of my blog to really make it useful to myself and others. I'm not sure if Darren will cover this in this particular 31 days, but it is a great tool to keep the blog rolling, even when you're not. So much. Rolling. And I get a lot of questions about this not working in wordpress. Also I receive comments from people finding that it is a bit "flakey"; meaning one day it will publish on time, and the next time, it won't publish anything.
