Pink for October Plugin

EDIT: this plugin is now hosted on WordPress.org.  Get it here: http://wordpress.org/extend/plugins/page-cornr-for-october/

This plugin is based on Page Cornr by lucianohpcv.  Unlike his plugin, this is completely automatic, disabling the options page, and including a default pink ribbon with the words, “Pink for October”.

I luv it! It would be nice to add the Susan G. Komen website (http://ww5.komen.org) to the ad url but it wouldn’t let me.

  2. Luxiano says:

I am glad that it helped you :D Thanks for support such an important cause. I’m sure many people will appreciate it, included myself :)

Hi! I just installed it and can only see a big transparent box with an X in the middle where the pic is supposed to be…I added it through WP but will try tomorrow to FTP it to my website myself to see if that fixes the problem – will keep you posted! Great idea! I support the Susan G. Komen foundation as well as others too! :)

What browser are you using, Patty? And are you able to see the smaller version of the image, or only the bigger image (approx 300px)? It should work by uploading through your wp dashboard – plugins – add new panel! Please get back to me so I can fix any errors or bugs. (Also refresh your computer screen to be sure that it is using a fresh version of the plugin!)

Hi Patty, There is actually a new version to fix a few bugs that I put in there between versions! :( Make sure you are using 1.1.3 and it should work like expected.

        All the best,
        Cathy

Can you explain me what is it all about???
    Thanks

    • Cathy says:

      Hello Sunil,
Pink for October is an initiative taken around the internet, to increase awareness on Breast Cancer during the National Breast Cancer Awareness month – October. Lots of blogs have turned something/ or all of their blog pink – for the month of October. Since I don’t want to do that, but I stil want to support the efforts of the Susan G. Komen foundation for Breast Cancer, I have made this plugin to add a pink ribbon to the top right corner of my blog.

Come to think of it, I should probably add a post about “Pink for October” too!

      Thanks for coming by!
      Cathy

Thanks for creating/tweaking this plugin. There is a display issue though initially when the corner is displayed is shows the bottom of the ribbon where there corner shadow is. Maybe sizing of the initial image or in css the z-index value?

  7. kevin says:

I change the values from 104px to 108px on line 16 in the .css file and in line 49 in the .php file and it is all covered up now! thanks!

    AWESOME!

I couldn’t get the options page to work, it seems to be commented out (so I guess you’re not using it?).

Being nerdy enough, I put it in to see what it was by changing your add_options_page setup to this:

    add_submenu_page('tools.php', 'Page Cornr', 'Page Cornr Options', '5', 'pagecornroptions', 'pagecornr_options');

    • Cathy says:

Be sure to visit Luxiano’s original plugin for all the options, and future upgrades. This one was for the un-nerdy types who just need a point and click version for Breast Cancer Awareness month. I’m glad you like it. :)

I ended up actually switching over to Page Peel ( http://wordpress.org/extend/plugins/page-peel/ ) for a slightly cooler effect. I really liked the pulsing and the reflection.

The images I made are here:
        http://ipstenu.org/blog/wp-content/plugins/page-peel/small.jpg
        http://ipstenu.org/blog/wp-content/plugins/page-peel/big.gif

I wouldn’t have even THOUGHT about that without your cool plugin :) Major props!
