REVIEW: Share and Follow Plug In

I get home from “Vegas, Baby” and Cathy tells me to review a plug in because it is “Awesome!”  I asked her a few questions about this Share and Follow plug in and got similar responses:

  • I love it – LOVE it.
  • it is AWESOME
  • share and follow widgets are separate
  • lots of reasons to love it!

So, I am guessing that Cathy is “loving” this “awesome” plug-in.  That means, I get to add it to my blog, play with it, and consider it work.  She is right, it is awesome! Tee hee.

As with any plugin you will have to upload it and configure it.  Did I mention there are a million and one settings to configure for your site?  If you DON’T configure these settings, they are not going to work correctly.  To configure the Share and Follow plug-in, go to settings and look for the share and follow option.  Click and prepare to be amazed. I am not kidding at the sheer number of options on this thing!

There are up to 34 places your reader can share your:

  • pages
  • posts
  • author pages
  • home page
  • tags, archive or category page

Plus you can choose the size of your images from 16×16 to 60×60!  I am currently using 32 x 32 and really like the size.

Set up CDN API key: just ignore this.

Share Icons Set up: these are the share buttons that go under or over your post.

Interactive Share Buttons: These are the cute little buttons on the top of your post that show the number of FaceBook, Stumble Upon, and Twitter Shares.

Again, you have several options from colors, size, location, and look.  You can choose how you want your tweets to appear and more!  I am using size 65 for my buttons.  I also chose all three interactive shares, but you don’t have to.  I might change this later, but for now I am really happy with it.  The only issue I have is that the Stumble Upon button doesn’t seem to line up with the others, but no one has complained about it, so I am not going to let my perfectionism get the best of me.  What do you think?  Which items do you prefer?

I have said it a million times in the past few weeks, “I am not a coder” but this plug in makes things super easy, even for an HTML idiot like me.

Follow …. Tab Setup: I am not even done yet!  Within this plug in, you also have the option of setting up “Follow” buttons.  That means, I was able to get all those pesky follow buttons off my sidebars.  This allows my ads to move up closer to the top, allowing me to ask a little more for them. Again, you choose size and location: the sides of your blog, the top, or the bottom.

Amazing!  What do you think?  Will you be adding this plug in to your site?  I added it and was able to remove 3 other plug-ins.    The more plug-ins you use, the more space your website is taking up AND it can slow you down.
