We are designing almost exclusively on Genesis theme Framework with custom Child Themes these days. Genesis is similar to other theme frameworks out there for WordPress. The reason we use a framework and a child theme is that you can upgrade your code (the framework) without loosing your custom styles (the child theme). This gives your new style a longevity unheard of until now. Finally a pretty to-do list & project manager in one I'm happy to report that Desperately Seeking WordPress has been growing this year again thanks to wonderful hard-working clients like yourselves. The version you have (hopefully 2.9.2) is fully secure. My advice is to wait a week or two before upgrading. In that week or two do not upgrade any plugins!
