Adding a Blog to an Existing Website – even a complicated one

I was contacted by a start up that wanted to add a blog to their custom (and complicated) website. We used their original design as a basis, copied some images, and here is the result: Here's the landing page for everyone: And the blog that we designed to match: Check out ZipList and create FREE shopping lists organized by AISLE and CATEGORY - its quite an amazing little idea! … [Read more...]

Strawberries Are Gluten Free

Strawberries Are Gluten Free | Portfolio

Because Strawberries is my site, I have little to no time to fuss on the design, but I wanted to improve the SEO of the site, so I put Thesis on there.  Save for the rotating images (on the front page) and header, the rest is basic select-an-option from the thesis options panel.  The fonts, colors, everything - is right there for you to select with a click of your mouse - with NO coding needed!  Interested? Click the Thesis button in my sidebar to see the pricing options.  Or, click here for more information on my Thesis-based designs. See the site here: Strawberries Are Gluten Free … [Read more...]

Fresh Clean Minimalist True-Blog Inspiration

Portfolio | The Big Mama Blog

I have to admit Melanie's input was integral to the finished product.   She came up with the gorgeous graphic, and after I tried (I think I'm picking up a pattern here) to submit several designs with 'more', I finally caved and created the minimalist design she was after.  And I can't believe how gorgeous it turned out to be!   This is based on a Thesis theme, and will be able to keep her site loading quickly, and search engines updated.  In her introductory post, Melanie talks a lot about the 'soft peacock blue', but I want to know what you'd call this pink/red/fuschia color!   Fuschia … [Read more...]

Integration with e-shop

screen-janmary designs-91

Jan has been creating selling her art for a long time to friends and family.  She has an Etsy shop, but wanted something in a local currency for her friends in Ireland.  Now she has all the options for currencies, payment gateways, and especially the policies and small print - the store is now hers to run as she chooses!  I love the fact that she chose a monochrome palette and the Reisling font - very classy! Visit Janmary Designs for gorgeous photo prints and one-of-a-kind jewelry.  (And you can even see the prices in USD too.) This entire thing would NEVER have been possible without … [Read more...]

Birmingham Mom Online

Trista and I have worked on designs before - while she designs the mockup, my part is to create the WordPress template.  This time, she let me give it a go for her own site, with her partner, Nanci.  We kept her logo and gorgeous red color, added some hand-drawn icons and bells and whistles.  I love the result - fun, attractive, and functional. Visit Birmingham Mom Online. … [Read more...]

Kathryn with Moen Consulting contacted me to create a website for her client.  And they had decided (very wisely, I might add) to use WordPress for its ease of use, and sizeable support community, plugin integration, and search engine friendliness.  Kathryn had created the chocolate/ teal palette for print materials, and they had selected a font/logo.  With gorgeous images and a nice background pattern, the rest just seemed to come together.  This was the easiest website I have ever put together!  It flowed naturally, and Kathryn was always available to offer feedback!   I highly … [Read more...]

Just completed – a WordPress Shop!

bogartfamilyresources

These clients have been with me before I was "Desperately Seeking WordPress" - in the days of "Healing Graphics".   That didn't really take off, and I had the good fortune to run into Heather a year or so back.  Jennifer installed WordPress on her own, and uploaded the basic plugins.  We both looked into the WordPress e-commerce plugins, some paid, and some open source.  We looked into a few commercial services, and Jennifer settled on e-junkie to run the store.  They are a conservative home-schooling family, and chose a nice dark blue background for contrast.  I really think this turned … [Read more...]
