Hold a “Draw” Tech-style

Have you been to the bloggy giveaways carnival this week?  It ends tonight!  Go!  Quickly!

And, if you’re ready to give away a present, this here is a great tool to ‘draw’ a nearly-random number:  Like drawing numbers from a hat, without the hat.  How very geeky of you!

I come to you seeking help :-)

I love your blog and let me just say that I live for posts because it is probably something I need to know, lol.

So, I’m hoping you can help me – I have looked everywhere for an answer to this and I can’t find anything.

I use the hidepost plugin that allows only authorized users to see the post – they reason I like it is because they can see “please login for private content” but the only problem is that the comments still come up for everyone to read which defeats the purpose! I have seen a lot of people using it, and one person has managed to get the comments private when not logged in – the only problem is that I emailed her to ask her why and for some reason she isn’t emailing back, lol… so instead of bothering her for a 3rd time, I figured I’d come to a WP expert such as yourself :-)

How can I get the comments to stay private as well as the posting? I don’t want to use the “private” posting because nothing comes up to let them know that there is a post if they aren’t logged in.

I just want my comments to be private as well on certain “hidepost” posts – do you have any suggestions or plugins that you know about that will hide both the post and the comments but allow readers to know to login?

    Thanks so much!!

I have emailed Erin some specific answers, but in case anyone stumbled onto this question – I suggest using the “Password Protect” option below the admin>write screen. It will then display on your blog with a “enter password” message, hiding the post and comments from everyone. The downside is that you then have to send an email to all your subscribers with the password to the post that is for their eyes only. I do believe that emailing plugins are quite prolific though.

    Thanks for stopping by!
